Eiderdowns were originally all filled with eiderduck down, eiderduck down is harvested by hand once a year from the nests of the female eiderduck. A female bird plucks the down from its own breast to line their nests once the chicks have fledged a group of specialised regulated farmers harvest the down and replace it with goose or duck down. Eiderdown is extremely rare and precious is the lightest, warmest and most luxurious of all natural fillings it is also eco- friendly and can be re- used and kept for several lifetimes.
