Hand painting / Fromental

The Counting Lambs Fromental collection is a series of luxury bedding pieces and travel accessories. Ukiyo-e is an existing Fromental design and a style of Japanese art. Translated as "art of the floating world" it is characterised by painting and woodblock printing.

The little blocks of our design resemble the colours and subtle gradations of the woodblock, notably a famous piece by Hiroshige called "sudden shower over Shin-Ohashi bridge and Atake". In someways rugged and distressed it was symmetrically perfect for the design of an eiderdown and translated beautifully on to our silk. Using different coloured foils and muted down versions of the existing Fromental colour ways we produced three colourways for Ukiyo-e called Storm, Griselle and Puce - Uyiko e eiderdowns can be edged in mink or piped in foiled silk.

All of the hand painting details are created using silk dyes, texiscreen fabric paint and foiling and carried out by the Fromental designers in London and in China.
